Katarzyna Płazińska is a Polish experimental filmmaker and stage director currently based in Iowa city. She earned her first Master’s degree in Czech Language and Literature at the University of Wroclaw and Masaryk University, then carried on with her studies in the United States. In 2011 she graduated from Baylor University, Faculty of Film & Digital Media and in 2014 from the University of Iowa with an MFA in Film and Video Production. Her work spans across the spectrum from cine-dances, film essays, alternative approaches to fiction film-making and short performance-installation pieces. Her films were screened at several prestigious festivals and venues worldwide. She was awarded the Grand Prix at Montreal Underground Film Festival, the Jury Award at Ann Arbor Film Festival and the Director’s Prize Award at Black Maria.
